- Recommend switching up to the newer Gen II chrome handle that has the release button at the front of the handle. Easier piece to use IMO. Mercury part # 8M0030551 is the MerCruiser spec'd version. Either way, using new style Gen II control cables is a must.
- From the Quicksilver's panel control, you can adjust your boat's trim, or angle in the water, to raise your bow to the appropriate level in various weather conditions and at different speeds. You control most of the Quicksilver Commander system from the controller arm, however, which has a throttle-only button and trailer control.

This control fits in the same hole that is there now. All Mercruiser 3000 fit the same hole. This is a 3000 it is the exact same fit. The only thing that is different is the handle and the facia. Then trim and trailer switch is in the handle. Actually if you like you can use your handle and facia with the module of the new control.
